November 17, 2015 by Sachin Bhatt Leave a Comment

There has been a lot of speculation in the past about the potential launch date of Xiaomi Mi 5 but most of them were inaccurate. Finally, the cat is out of the bag and it looks like Xiaomi will announce its latest flagship smartphone on November 24.

Xiaomi-Mi-5-November-24-Launch-Event

According to a MIUI forum post, this is an invitation letter for a new product launch that is being circulated on Weibo since this morning. According to the invitation, the event will take place on November 24 at the China National Convention Center. Also, 500 tickets are up for grabs for Mi fans in China that can be purchased starting from tomorrow for CNY 199 (US $31 approximately).

The invitation might not talk about the Mi 5 in particular but we all know it is going to be the much-awaited flagship device. It was even recently spotted on Geekbench under the codename “Xiaomi Gemini”. Lets have a look at the rumoured specifications so far.

Xiaomi Gemini aka Mi 5 Rumoured Specifications

The Xiaomi Mi 5 will feature a 5.2-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) QHD LCD display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It will rock a 16 megapixel rear primary camera and a 13 megapixel front-facing camera. According to the Geekbench listing, it has been confirmed that the flagship smartphone from Xiaomi will be powered by the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (MSM8996) 64-bit processor along with Adreno 530 GPU. The device will run on MIUI 7 out of the box based on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The upcoming Xiaomi Gemini aka the Mi 5 has scored 2140 on Single Core and 4762 on multi-core. It will likely pack in a 3000 mAh battery under the hood with Quick Charge support. There are no concrete information but we have heard in the past that Mi 5 will sport a microUSB Type-C port as well. It will also come with a fingerprint scanner and cost less than US $400 in China. Well, the pricing won’t be much of a surprise considering Xiaomi’s business model.

Also, Redmi Note 2 Pro has been certified by TENAA in China and Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 has been spotted on Geekbench. Hence, if Xiaomi decides to launch any of these devices on November 24, it will not come as a surprise either.
