Lenovo-backed startup, ZUK announced that the company has partnered with Cyanogen Inc and hence the international variant of ZUK Z1 will run on Cyanogen OS 12.1. Now, the device is up for grabs outside of China. The phablet was launched in China back in August. “The Chinese version of the Z1 became an instant success with more than 2 million pre-orders in one week.”
The ZUK Z1 has been priced at 279.99 Euros (US $312) on eBay.es and 285.99 Euros (US $319) on eBay.fr. They can be purchased at these prices for a limited time according to the company. However, the biggest question is “Will ZUK pull off a OnePlus by partnering with Cyanogen Inc?” It will be answered over time.
ZUK Z1 Specifications
The ZUK Z1 features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display and has a 1500:1 contrast ratio. It is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 64-bit processor along with Adreno 330 GPU. It has 3 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and comes with 64 internal storage but does not have expandable storage. The device runs on Cyanogen OS 12.1 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It has an aircraft-grade aluminum metal frame around the body.
The Z1 comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Sony IMX214 Exmor RS sensor, OIS, and f/2.2 aperture. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an OmniVision OV8865 sensor for selfies and video calling. The phablet is 8.9 mm thick and weighs 175 grams. It supports Dual SIM (nano) and has a 3.5 mm audio jack. The home button comes with a built-in fingerprint sensor. It is called U-Touch which acts as a Home Button when pressed hard, a Back button on touch, and double-click for multitasking.
The Z1 includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (Dual Band), WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/GLONASS, and USB 3.0 Type-C (10 times faster than USB-C) as connectivity options. The phablet packs in a whopping 4,100 mAh battery under the hood, which supports fast charging and it takes only 2.5 hours to charge from 0-100.
