Recently, the Xiaomi Redmi 3s, an upgraded variant of the original Redmi 3 was announced in China. The smartphone can now be pre-ordered globally including in the U.S., as it has been listed by Gearbest, a leading e-commerce portal in China.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3s is now available for pre-order in Gold, Silver, and Dark Grey color variants. It comes in two variants – 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM and 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM and has been priced at $151.89 and $226.23, respectively. The cheaper model will start shipping from July 5 whereas the higher-end variant will ship from July 15.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3s features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (Quad 1.5 GHz A53 + Quad 1.2 GHz A53) 64-bit processor along with Adreno 505 GPU. It packs in 2 / 3 GB of LPDDR3 RAM along with 16 / 32 GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card. The device runs on MIUI 7 based on Android OS. It comes with a full metal magnesium alloy unibody design.
The Redmi 3s rocks a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), and f/2.0 aperture.
